I finally finished my crochet Vera!

She’s done! She’s done!
It’s been a good 80 hrs of work (possibly more, I’m not very good at keeping track) but she’s finally done!
She’s so cuddly and pretty and huge, I love her!

She’s completely crocheted without a pattern, filled with upholstery foam and wooden dowels for stability as well as ceramic baking beads for weight balance. She’s quite heavy for a crocheted item, but still light enough to tote around all day.
I’ve started working on Jayne’s knife and will also crochet his handgun and holster and belt pockets. Hoping to get it all done before August for NineWorlds Geek Fest!

Vera update

I finally made some time to work on Vera again! It’s been way too long.

She’s coming along nicely. I used a 9mm dowel to reinforce the body and the grip for better stability.
Here’s to hoping I can finish her soon as I have a long list of cosplays I want to finish this year! 😀

Amigurumi Lesson Video is up!

Alright, I FINALLY (after over a year) got around to editing and uploading the Amigurumi kitty cat pattern and tutorial video.

kitty

This is the kitty you can learn to crochet! The pattern is up on Ravelry.

If you have no experience with crocheting at all, or haven`t tried amigurumis yet, I suggest watching a few of my other tutorial videos first to get the basic methods down. All crochet tutorials can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/myntkat/playlists
You can crochet along to the cat video which can be found here:

Hope you enjoy and I hope to see lots of crochet kitties soon!

Cheers,

Bianca

Trigger Happy!

Got the trigger and huge magazine for Vera finished! This thing is starting to come together. Lots of detail work still to do, but the largest chunk is done.

The rest of the gun has so many small details though, it’s going to take a while to finish. Very happy with the progress so far though. 😀

Free dancing babygroot crochet pattern

I have been thinking about making myself a dancing baby Groot for a while, but I want him to be functional and haven’t quite worked out how yet, though someone is working on looking into Arduino options for me. However, today I ran into this free crochet pattern and thought I’d share with all of you!

Isn’t he adorable? You can find the pattern right here on Twinkiechan’s blog!
Enjoy and show off your finished Grooties!

Vera is coming along

It’s very rudimentary, but I have the basic body finished, everything else will be built on top of this. Unfortunately I ran out of black yarn, so I’ll have to work on the decorative bits and piecew until I stock up again.

image

I’m using upholstery foam for the filling for the first time, I’m hoping it’s more stable than polyfil and holds the shape better. It seems to be working well so far, we’ll see how it goes once all the bits and pieces are added.

Dragons and Viking Hats are back

I finally went through all my boxes from the move and sorted the hats and scarves. Viking hats and dragon scarves are now available in my shop again! And worldwide shipping is free!

Getting nosey with my crochet

Started working on my Miss Piggy nose! It’s all one piece with lots of shaping and seems to be working out great so far.

image

If it keeps going this well, I may finish the whole piece today and can start working on crocheting Vera tomorrow! 😀

I’m all ears!

I’m currently working on a set of ears for my upcoming Miss Piggy cosplay. I played around with foam, fabric and latex and didn’t like any of the results, so back to crochet it is!

image

If there’s any interest, I may publish the pattern for the ears and nose as I am writing everything down as I go along.
I never did take detail pictures of the Loki horns and sceptre that I crocheted last year, have to remember doing that at some point.

Cheers,
MyntKat

The Mighty Thor

Finished another amigurumi! This time it’s the mighty Thor. 😀

[singlepic id=281 w=800 h=900 float=none]

My mom asked me to make her a Thor doll to cuddle, so I did.

I am now officially settled in London, UK. The move went well, still waiting for a few boxes to come from Canada (especially the ones that have my yarn in them) but I’m already feeling quite at home here. Having lots of fun, meeting new awesome people and enjoying the city tremendously.

Hope you’re having as great a time as I am!

Love and chocolate for all!
